🍗 Etobicoke Poultry Supplier Sues Popeyes for $35 Million 🍗
Feathers are ruffled as an Etobicoke chicken supplier takes legal action against Popeyes for allegedly terminating their contract after blowing the whistle on unsafe practices by a competitor operating out of garages in Ontario. The $35-million lawsuit claims the rogue seller was peddling rotten chicken without proper refrigeration. Local residents might want to think twice before ordering that late-night chicken sandwich delivery as the legal feathers continue to fly in this fowl feud.
🏗️ Richview Square Redevelopment Set to Provide Affordable Housing Boost 🏗️
Etobicoke's Richview Square is about to undergo a major facelift, transitioning from an aging retail plaza to a modern development featuring three residential towers and much-needed affordable housing units. With 54 purpose-built affordable rental units among the 587 residential spaces planned, this project not only addresses the city's housing crisis but also offers new green spaces and pedestrian-friendly designs. As Toronto's suburbs embrace mixed-income communities, this redevelopment sets a promising example for inclusive neighborhood evolution right here in Etobicoke.
🏢 Mayor Tours Etobicoke Complex in Need of Repairs 🏢
Mayor Olivia Chow and city councillor Vincent Crisanti recently toured an Etobicoke complex on Bergamot Avenue, where residents have been dealing with mold, lack of accessibility, and other issues for years. From moldy windows to missing entrance ramps, the living conditions are dire. Residents are frustrated with unaddressed repair requests and even fear retaliation for speaking out. The City promises more enforcement, but residents are calling for swifter action and penalties for negligent building owners. The urgency for safe and livable housing in the community is clear, demanding immediate attention.
