THE DIGEST

💰⚽ Cash In on FIFA 2026 with Airbnb 💸
Airbnb hosts in Toronto are gearing up for the FIFA World Cup 2026 by cashing in on their properties. With the new Host Earnings Calculator, hosts can estimate earnings during the tournament. Some top-earning neighborhoods include East York, Etobicoke-Lakeshore, and Trinity Bellwoods. Hosting a two-bedroom home in Trinity Bellwoods for 23 nights could rake in $12,574. Get those properties ready for goal-worthy profits!

🚦🤖 The City Lets AI Take the Wheel 🤖🚦
Toronto is unleashing AI to tackle traffic congestion on busy streets, starting with smart intersections in North York, Etobicoke, and Scarborough. With over 2,500 intersections in need of an upgrade, the city aims to use advanced AI to adjust traffic lights based on real-time conditions like weather and accidents. For $50,000 to $60,000 each, these "smart traffic signals" will help ease the city's notorious traffic gridlock and free up human resources in control centers.

🔥 Firefighters Tame 3-Alarm Blaze in Etobicoke 🔥
Dozens of firefighters heroically battled a massive three-alarm fire at an Etobicoke waste disposal plant. The blaze, which erupted early Wednesday, was contained within the building and extinguished by afternoon. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but crews will remain on-site for up to 24 hours for a fire watch. The cause of the fire remains a mystery, though no foul play is suspected—at least for now.
