🏗️ 271 Rentals Land Beside Mimico GO 🏗️
Ground broke Tuesday at 351 to 365 Royal York Road on Mimico Commons, a ten storey building with 271 rental homes, less than 250 metres from Mimico GO. LiUNA's pension fund, Fengate and the Rinomato Group are behind it, with 5,000 square feet of ground floor retail and first residents expected in mid 2029. Rentals, not condos, which is a notable pivot in a market where presales keep stalling.
🏊 Set An Alarm For September 15 🏊
The city's fall recreation listings are live, and Etobicoke's registration window opens Tuesday, September 15 at 7 a.m. Toronto is running roughly 16,000 courses and 148,000 spots citywide across swimming, skating, music, arts and fitness. Most programs start the week of September 26. Waitlist invitations expire after 36 hours, so make sure the email on your account still works before the 15th.
🗳️ Your October Ballot Is Locked In 🗳️
Nominations closed Friday at 2 p.m., and the City Clerk certified 362 candidates on Monday. That is the final field for mayor, council and school board trustee. Starting September 1 you can use MyVote to confirm you are on the voters' list, check your ward, or request a mail-in ballot. Advance voting runs October 6 to 11. Election day is Monday, October 26.
🍟 Eat At The Ex, Get Your Money Back 🍟
The CNE's EXcelunch ticket costs $30 with tax and is fully refunded if you return to the same gate by 2 p.m. It runs Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., excluding Labour Day Monday, and it is sold at the gates only: Saskatchewan, Princes', or TTC and GO. You still pay for the food, but the admission ends up free.
📌 Quick Hits LUZIA plays its final shows under the big top at Humber Bay this weekend and closes Sunday, August 30. The Ex runs to Labour Day Monday, September 7, which is also the one day the EXcelunch deal does not run, so plan the cheap lunch for a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday before then.
