🚲 Bike Lanes on Bloor Going First 🚲
The province put out its call for contractors Tuesday, which is the step right before the shovels. Car lanes go back on Bloor Street West starting just east of the 600 metre section at Clissold Road that was restored last December. Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria says the province is keeping its promise. Work runs next year through 2028.

💵 Ottawa Just Wrote Five Etobicoke Cheques 💵
Five local companies are splitting $6.6 million in repayable federal money, announced August 27 by MP James Maloney. SWTCH Energy, which makes EV charging software, takes $4 million of it. The rest goes to All Wood Fine Interiors, Clear Air Carbon Fiber, Just Vertical and Rawcology. The fund exists to help manufacturers ride out tariffs, which is a very 2026 reason to get a cheque.

💉 Check The Shot Records Before Tuesday 💉
Toronto Public Health sent its back to school reminder Wednesday, and this one has teeth. Grade 2 kids born in 2019 and Grade 11 kids born in 2010 need current immunization records on file. TPH is mailing deadline letters to families with gaps, and students who miss theirs can be suspended. Sort it at toronto.ca/StudentVaccines or call 416-338-7600, before it becomes a call from the office.

🏗️ Six Points Is Nine Floors Tall Now 🏗️
The new Etobicoke Civic Centre has poured concrete to the ninth floor, steel started going up in June, and the first exterior panels are on. When it opens in 2028, the old Six Points tangle will hold a community centre with pools, a library branch, child care, a health clinic, shops and a public square just over an acre. Kipling and Bloor is going to look unrecognizable.

The Ex wraps Monday, September 7, its final day. MyVote went live September 1, so you can confirm your voters' list info, check your ward or request a mail-in ballot now. Advance voting runs October 6 to 11 and election day is Monday, October 26. TDSB students are back Tuesday, September 8.

Fall rec registration opens Tuesday, September 15 at 7 a.m. for Etobicoke. Toronto is running roughly 16,000 courses citywide and most programs start the week of September 26. Two things worth doing before the 15th: make sure the email on your Family Account still works, and know that waitlist invitations expire after 36 hours. That is how people lose the swim spot they technically got.

The new Civic Centre is going up at Six Points. Where did that name come from?

A) Six streetcar lines that once terminated there
B) The six-way tangle where Bloor, Dundas and Kipling used to meet
C) A six-sided park that was paved over in the 1960s
D) Six farms that shared the crossroads in the 1800s

Answer: B. Before the reconfiguration, Bloor Street West, Dundas Street West and Kipling Avenue converged in a six-armed interchange. The City untangled it, and the new Civic Centre is what is rising on the land that got freed up.
