THE DIGEST
🅿️ Parking Ticket Leads to Assault in Etobicoke 🅿️
A routine parking ticket turned into a not-so-chill Sunday in Etobicoke when a parking enforcement officer was assaulted after issuing a ticket. The man allegedly didn't take the ticket too well and ended up physically attacking the officer. Roman Kravchyshyn, 46, was arrested and charged with assaulting a peace officer. Looks like some people really take those parking tickets personally - but violence is never the answer, folks. Let's keep it civil out there.
🏘️ Bye-Bye Bad-Faith Renovictions 🏘️
A new Toronto bylaw just dropped, and it’s aiming straight at landlords who try to evict tenants under the fake excuse of doing renos. Starting July 31, landlords need a $700 licence, real building permits, and proof from a certified pro that the unit actually needs to be empty. In Etobicoke, where rental pressures are high, this could be a game-changer. Landlords now have to pay moving costs ($1,500–$2,500) and cover rent-gap payments if tenants return—or even more if they don’t. South Etobicoke tenant advocates say it’s a solid step, though not a cure-all. Bottom line: if your landlord’s waving an N13, don’t panic—but don’t sign without checking your rights. And if things smell fishy? 3-1-1 is your friend.
🎤 Controversial Musician Stirs the Pot in Etobicoke 🎤
American musician Sean Feucht brought his tunes and his controversial opinions to an Etobicoke church, stirring up some drama. Known for speaking out against abortion and LGBTQ2S+ rights, Feucht's performance had police on standby, but no major incidents went down. Feucht's ties to the MAGA movement add fuel to the fire. While some fans are pumped for his Canadian tour, others are side-eyeing the whole situation. Is this just a harmless concert, or the start of something more contentious?
🔍 Where is Nicole Morin? 🔍
After 40 years, the disappearance of eight-year-old Nicole Morin from her Etobicoke home remains a haunting mystery. Toronto police are offering a $50,000 reward for any information that could lead to finding her, emphasizing that the case is far from closed. The community's involvement is crucial, as even the smallest detail could make a difference. Nicole's story continues to captivate the GTA, reminding everyone that someone, somewhere might hold the key to uncovering the truth behind her disappearance.
