THE DIGEST

🔊 Etobicoke Residents Say Grocery Store Fan Is Ruining Their Lives 🔊
A new Marché Leo’s grocery store in Etobicoke is causing a major headache for neighbours. Residents living just steps away say a noisy kitchen exhaust fan is robbing them of sleep, causing migraines, and even driving tenants to move out. Despite a bylaw violation and $500 fine, the store’s fix didn’t cut the noise, and frustrated neighbours are still pushing for relief. The store says they’re taking it seriously and plan to bring in an acoustic engineer. But for now, the hum continues—and so does the tension.

🐣 Local Students Watch Over Nesting Mother Goose at Their School 🐣
A mother goose has made herself at home on school property in Etobicoke, and students are fully invested. With eggs nearly ready to hatch, kids and staff have been keeping a respectful eye on their feathered neighbour, hoping to help the family of goslings safely thrive once they arrive. It’s a hands-on spring lesson in patience, care, and coexisting with nature.

🚲 Judge Questions Logic Behind Ford’s Bike Lane Removals 🚲
Ontario’s plan to tear out bike lanes on Bloor, Yonge, and University hit a legal speed bump this week. At a court hearing, a judge questioned whether the removals are arbitrary and pressed the province for data showing the changes would actually reduce traffic. Cycling advocates argue the decision violates the Charter and lacks any real evidence to back it up. The judge said he’ll decide soon whether to issue a temporary block on the lane removals while the case plays out.
