THE DIGEST

🚁 Put the Drone Down, Etobicoke 🚁
Toronto police have intercepted 17 unauthorized drones over World Cup venues since the tournament began, handing out fines and charging two people with reckless operation. This hits close to home: the no-drone zone covers practice pitches at Centennial Park in Etobicoke. Fines run $1,000 to $5,000. Leave the drone at home for now.

🎆 Centennial Park Lights Up for Canada Day 🎆
Canada turns 159 on July 1, and Centennial Park is Etobicoke's spot to celebrate. Fireworks kick off at 10 p.m. at 256 Centennial Park Rd., making it an easy local option for families. It's the second-largest city-owned park after Toronto Island, so there's plenty of room to spread out. Grab a blanket, skip the parking headaches downtown, and enjoy the show right in your backyard.

🛢️ Oily Trouble Finds Mimico Creek Again 🛢️
Emergency crews were called to Mimico Creek near Legion Road and Manitoba Street last Sunday after diesel oil was found in the water. Workers deployed absorbent booms to contain the spill, and the Ministry of the Environment is investigating the source, believed to be a one-time release from the storm sewer system. Good news: no fish or wildlife impacts reported so far.
