THE DIGEST

🧄 Toss That Dollarama Garlic Powder Now 🧄
Dollarama is recalling its Heavenly Spices garlic powder (70g) after testing found Bacillus cereus, a bacteria that can cause vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pain. If your bottle has UPC 6 67888 50634 7 and best before code 2029 JAN 30, don't use it, sell it, or serve it. No illnesses have been reported yet. Check your Etobicoke Dollarama haul and toss it if it matches.

🌫️ Etobicoke's Air Was Briefly the World's Worst 🌫️
For a hot minute this week, Toronto topped the global charts for worst air quality, beating out every other major city on Earth (yes, that's a real ranking). Etobicoke residents got a front row seat, with masks appearing on Lake Shore Blvd. and the Kingsway skyline barely visible through the haze. Blame wildfires burning up in northwestern Ontario. The good news: winds are expected to help clear things out today.

🍗 Free Nando's Chicken Comes to Queen St. 🍗
Nando's Etobicoke location on North Queen St. is joining a nationwide food drive this Saturday, July 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring a non-perishable pantry item (or a cash donation) and walk out with a free quarter-chicken and peri-fries. It's all in honour of Mandela Day, and everything donated goes straight to local food banks. Good deed, good chicken, good Saturday.

🐾 Two Dogs Shot Near Rexdale, Both Survive 🐾
In an Etobicoke home near Rexdale Blvd. and Bergamot Ave., two dogs were shot Monday morning. Police found the scene around 2 p.m. after responding to reports of gunfire near Rexlington Park, where suspects were seen fleeing. Initial reports said the dogs had died, but police confirmed Tuesday both are alive and receiving vet care. Investigation continues; tips go to 416-808-2300.
