Good morning, Etobicoke! I'm Bri, and it's Thanksgiving weekend. The turkey is (hopefully) thawing, someone has already claimed the good chair, and the kids have three whole days to burn off pie. Let's get into this week's news.

In this week's newsletter:

🗳️ Two-Horse Race: Chris Alexander bows out of the mayor's race
🗓️ Last Call: advance voting wraps Sunday
🏠 Fence Crasher: a driver ends up in a Kidron Valley home

Plus: what's coming to Eglinton and Martin Grove, and what's actually open Monday 🦃

THE DIGEST

🗳️ And Then There Were Two 🗳️
Chris Alexander dropped out of the mayor's race Tuesday, the same day advance polls opened. A Nanos poll had him at 4%, behind Olivia Chow (52.4%) and Brad Bradford (42.6%). He's endorsing no one, and his name will likely stay on the ballot. Local footnote: a September poll had Bradford leading in Etobicoke.

🗓️ Vote Early, Then Go Eat Turkey 🗓️
Advance voting runs through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., at two locations in every ward. You have to vote in the ward where you live, so check yours at toronto.ca/Elections before heading out. Bring ID showing your name and Toronto address. Photo ID isn't required. Can't make it this weekend? Election day is Monday, October 26.

🏠 An Uninvited Guest On Kidron Valley 🏠
A driver crashed through a fence and into a house on Kidron Valley Drive near Kipling just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Police say the driver ran off on foot, came back, and was arrested on an alcohol-related driving charge. No physical injuries were immediately reported, which is the only good news here. Kidron Valley was closed between Kipling and Hamer Avenue while police investigated.

📌 Quick Hits
Six people were taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash on the ramp from the northbound 427 to the westbound 401 early Sunday morning. One person had life-threatening injuries, and a 24-year-old Kitchener man faces charges including impaired operation causing bodily harm. On a lighter note, a reader asked what's going up at Eglinton and Martin Grove, so we looked into it. Infrastructure Ontario is planning two buildings of up to 18 storeys on the northeast corner, beside the future LRT station. That works out to about 684 homes plus a few ground-floor shops around a public plaza. It's still in the planning stage, so don't hold your breath for store names yet.
